Pursuing the Mature Firewall
Firewalls are an evolving process in the network. A while back I was a single IP out there with a high capacity modem and gigabit router.

My needs ultimately became the 5 node monstrosity I have now which lends it self to attack on each of those fronts.

Keeping the bad people out of my stuff is now one of my top considerations. This stems from the rather harrowing adventures in long reading I undertake as an aspect of daily operations.

A little thought ahead of blind blocking has gone a long way to streamline my rule set and keep you from falling into the pit of having to revamp everything when you discover that the bulk of your problems come from limited networks.

Firewall
My recent rebuild has left me with everything commented and those regions I know give me the most trouble being identified and curtailed from access.

I orginally blocked seven Class A nets because they were from regions I knew were rife with exploits. That number has grown and now I keep much of Europe and Asia at bay.

The fact that China and other problem traffic buy space in domestic networks to sidestep my firewall doesn't do much other than slow down the process because my daily log reviews have been getting those too.

What used to be a gazillion or so subnets has been greatly reduced by going for the Class A roots of all evil in my environment. I just wish they would forget about me, but you can tell they haven't when I rebuild the rules because there they all are hitting my servers with wild abandon.

They've pretty much kept up with the address changes quite well.

The moral of the story is don't go crazy with that new fangled firewall you bought then hurriedly decided to put to work. Think about where those threats originate and how much easier a few rules are to manage compared to a hundred thousand or so.

In my defense all I can say is I'm well over 25 years getting to this point so all I can really do is give you a nice duh and plead ignorance.

HOWEVER, I've never been one to just sit back and take exploit attempts and hacks without preemptive strikes to eliminate them. This is where I am and it works nicely.

The Day of the Imprisoned Writer 2018
PEN International Day of the Imprisoned Writer

This day is a recognition of writers who resist the suppression of those basic rights of humanity and the freedom of expression it is supposed to contain. Each November 15 it is observed under the auspices of PEN International's Writers in Prison Committee.

As long as there have been people, there has been dissent. Some of us are quite vocal in authoring items which detail the reasons for that dissent.

For example, the treachery and subterfuge of the United States Democratic Party has placed themselves into my sights over their stealing of votes in elections, unmitigated gall in lying to the electorate, and that criminal activity in the form of harassing citizens and slander that goes with it.

Who knows, I may soon be an imprisoned writer. Like murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi, I too may pay the ultimate price at the hands of some criminal democrat out to teach some cheap shot lesson or make a name for themselves as a 'tough guy' in their organization dedicated to the destruction of The Republic known as The United States of America.

The Republicans have yet to demonstrate any ability or inclination to strike back in kind at these criminals lead by the evil mouthy Maxine Waters, the decrepit lame brain Nancy Pelosi, the brigand Barack Obama and that dude he married, and the tard boy Cory Booker, et al.

The time for being polite in politics has long ended.

World Diabetes Day 2018
World Diabetes Day
It's World Diabetes Day, a time to bring the disease diabetes mellitus to the foreground of that short term memory in accordance with the International Diabetes Federation.

My personal battle involves diabetes type 2 or adult onset diabetes ...

Also known as "Metabolic Syndrome X" to me as first introduced by my physician.

The day corresponds to the birthday of one Frederick Banting who was essential in the discovery of insulin along with two others in 1922.

As for me, I take the glucophage and other oral treatments and I'm afraid my control isn't "all that" but I'm squeaking by.

If I could simply stop eating my problems would go away.

I am also told that with successful completion of gastric bypass surgery a person is no longer diabetic either.

Be all of this as it may, I am what I am and it is what it is.

World Kindness Day 2018

Today is another World Kindness Day.

It is a day to recognize good deeds and positivity which includes the underlying kindness by which we bridge gaps, attain consensus, and achieve tolerance between each other.

Practice random acts of kindness and commit senseless acts of beauty whenever and wherever you may feel so inclined.

I do and it's made me a happier person.

Practice Kindness and Commit Beauty

The Meaning of Meanness
It is really a tumultuous time in which we live.

We are reaping those low hanging fruits of that which we have sowed over the years.

The steady decline in mores and secularization of the world has resulted in some distinct disadvantages for many in a nation which used to be about freedom and trust in God.

The news media have much to report in the areas of crime and other abuses that people impart to others.

Sad commentary indeed. For the main stream media selectively reports and have given rise and aided and abetted those criminals known as the democrats and progressives in the political arena. Talk about failure to serve the public interest ...

• We have children setting other children on fire over 40 dollar debts and referring to attempted murder as a 'bad decision'.
• There are religious cults who force children into sexual relationships and practice levels of depravity worthy of a true sodomite -- in the name of God and religion.
• Mothers who impersonate others on social networking sites to persecute the rivals of their children ... resulting in death and demise in the name of vengeance which isn't theirs.
• We have those who would call themselves "men" who beat and terrorize women as though they were some draft animal they own; and would probably treat with more kindness.
• There are employers who engage in a tyrannical underhanded style because they want to exploit anybody and anything regardless of the state of the economy.

    The Democratic Party

That beastliness of deliberation and the associated inferior character which are the hallmarks of the spiteful and malicious acts which qualify as "mean" ... could it all really be "common" ?

What used to be primarily the purview of bullies on a school yard is rapidly becoming a societal norm evident in the distinct lack of raising we are finding in some groups of people these days.

How do I know? Been there, done that.

Yes, I used to be "mean". I used to allow my hotheadedness and selfishness to outweigh my rational decision making. There was a time when I would lash out in anger at the slightest provocation and everything was all about me.

The meaning of meanness is a lack of the fortitude to treat another as you would like to be treated. It is a deviant base instinct that the feelings of others don't matter.

It is a poor excuse for declining to engage the spiritual aspects of behavior. Meanness is the carnal manifestation of self-centricity being directed by a faulty moral compass.

When I was mean I had no respect for myself and even less for others.

At that time when I realized the value of respectability it reflected throughout all other aspects of my interaction with other people.

Life stopped being some elusive abstract destination, and assumed the role of journey and attempting to understand this paradox called human existence. I know how to act because I grew past that need for immediate gratification and it was no longer 'my way or the highway'.

I stopped constantly focusing on my needs and attempted to cultivate consideration for the needs of others.

Meanness is just another of the many frailties of the human condition. It's bad enough that some people are inclined to be mean.

The greater tragedy revolves around the victim. Being mean to another always involves a victim toward whom the meanness is directed ... the one who suffers.

Meanness is Maxine Waters, Corey Booker, the preposterous criminal Hillary Clinton, the stupid brigands Obama, the insane Nancy Pelosi, and the classic California moron Diane Feinstein.

These people will stoop to any level to attain their ends and have no concept of fairness, honesty, justice, nor the Constitution of the United States or any other aspect of the law.

You turn around and you're old ...
Santa
Old

Having lived or existed for a long time; old. that which has been subjected to aging.

synonyms: elderly, ancient, mature, senior, hoary, senescent, advanced in years, Dave

antonyms: young
I spent a large part of Saturday rearranging various items in my environment in pursuit of that elusive feng shui nirvana I can never seem to attain.

During the course of the festivities I found myself seated at my workstation in it's new location and happened to take a random gander at the one of the several mirrors attached to various walls in my vicinity.

Lo and behold, but what did I see. This white haired jelly belly santa claus in civies looking fellow all stout and pout pecking away at that luxury backlit keyboard like they weren't going to make any more of them.

The striking clarity of the moment involved how old I appeared to myself inasmuch as "you're as old as you feel" so they say ... I never felt too old until that first gaze into the codger I have become.

The irony surrounds not realizing it's happening while it's going on — THEN the personal shock value of that particular destination STILL remains. Alas, I am old. "Middle aged", hell. Real old. It was all of a sudden I turned around and I'm old. Older than dirt. Older than paper. Older than matches. Older than fire.

Shoot. I remember when I was the youngest spring chicken in the office — for what seemed like years and years on end.

Where did all the years go?

World Freedom Day 2018
Since 2001 each November 9th is a federal observance commemorating the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of communist rule in eastern and central europe.

George Walker Bush
  George Hubert Walker Bush
It was declared by then President George Walker Bush ... who ironically is the son of the "New World Order" traitor George Herbert Walker Bush.

He proclaimed the Agenda 21 "New World Order" to us when he was president with the aim of the entirety of our populace becoming subserviant minions of the United Nations. As if we would simply go quietly into the night like all the victims of his other Nazi predecessors.

This included submitting to "sustainable" population controls where we kill people under the auspices of FEMA and the UN after they do away with our constitutional rights such as The Second Ammendment.

Imagine this guy proclaiming anything containing the notion of freedom.

Happy World Freedom Day anyway.

Walk softly and carry a number of powerful concealed weapons.

World Urbanism Day 2018
    banner of World Urbanism Day

World Urbanism Day aka "World Town Planning Day" began in 1949 and was founded by the late Professor Carlos Maria della Paolera who worked for University of Buenos Aires.

It is meant to advance public and professional interest in urban planning and is observed internationally in 30 countries on November the 8th.

World Urbanism Day provides a vehicle for the examination of planning from a global perspective and therein lay my only problem with it.

The Nationalist in me wants all the city planners like Barack Obama and his ilk to stay out of my government like the unqualified muslim foreigner married to a dude he is.

King Kong Bundy
King Kong Bundy
It's not often you will encounter a figure imposing as King Kong Bundy.

After watching him in a few films and wrestling expositions on teevee I briefly followed him during his 300 consecutive victories when he suffered quite the theatrical beatdown of a brawl with Terry "Hulk" Hogan thereby losing the World Wrestling Federation World's Heavyweight Championship.

Now look, I'm not one of these wrestling afficinados like I was back in my childhood over at Mortimo Gleaton's house in Perry watching all the wrestling on Saturdays with him and his son Ricky so very long ago.

But back in the day I WAS a believer ...

Born Christopher Alan Pallies he is now retired from professional wrestling and likewise remains finished with the acting and stand-up comedy for which he has been known. He probably doesn't miss the steel cage matches and their imposing tests of endurance.

Regardless, this is no ordinary man. Happy Birthday Christopher Pallies !.

Tough Times Don't Last ...
    catastrophic failure dialog
Today saw the resolution of an extremely difficult problem at work. It required a team effort and though the struggle was insufferable at times we saw the issues through and have recovered from them.

It's an easy matter to curse the darkness rather than light a candle and when those trying times arrive — as they always do — we should determine and address the problems as we on our team did rather than affix blame ... which was all mine I might add.

Tough Times Don't Last ... Tough People Do.

Today was a good day. A satisfying day. A day which reveals the nature of that who we are, the techs on duty with a job to do — despite the wussy irrelevant vendor support we received.

Politicians DON'T know me
I was amused at cnet's article regarding Midterm elections: How politicians know exactly how you’re going to vote

data pipe
It is attributed to the "political data industry" whereby data brokers acquire voter registration information which they subsequently sell to any number of buyers.

    Yes We Scan
While I admit that they may glean certain things from this information; I decline to provide a lot of stuff they may want to get a hold of otherwise.

My obfuscated presence on the internet with vpns and firewalls, and hyperencrypted bus elements simply don't provide the level of information harvesting they can get from someone like some idiot facebook user who tells everything they know without even realizing it.

Yes, I shun social media primarily for those data harvesting tidbits rife with disguised apps which access your contact lists and profile elements proving you're the buffoon that you are.

But I don't stop there. I have also initiated a false information distribution of my own to prevent that information which does seep through the cracks making sure it is largely either incorrect or meaningless.

As evidenced by the inaccuracy of my personal information offered by the vendors of such information to the web using public I would say that I'm pretty darn effective at keeping them from who I am and what I'm really all about.

Suffice it to say that you sheeples need a lot more privacy than you're getting.

You trust those who are untrustworthy and therein lay your problem.

Facebook, Cambridge Analytica, et al are in your business and you can't even stop them because you don't choose to recognize the ramifications.

Luckily this blog is about the only place a person may get to know me. Those for whom it is written read it. I firewalled google for their misbehavior and I am no longer looking for any audience whatsoever.

Too many place too much online. I'm not for sale and I can keep you out of my business effectively.
