Equifax. Enemy of the Tax Payer
Equifax--The friend of my enemy is my enemy

I recently attempted to lift a credit report freeze with all three credit reporting agencies. Everything went well until I hit the Equifax morons. They gave me to some dullard woman in India who had no business even being connected to my credit information.

She attempted to identify me using transactions on their credit report — which I have never read and now will NEVER read.

Instead of using valid identity markers in their process they choose to:

#1  use a device of their own design. This should be a standardized methodology with oversight.
#2  use a foreign national to pursue this identification. Foreigners should mind their own business and stay out of ours. Any US company that can't handle the business themselves should likewise stay out of matters beyond their operational capability.
#3  act as though they have the divine right of kings to do this. God did not leave Equifax in charge of the world.

So, at this stage of the game I would be quite happy if Pakistan nuked Inda and gave them what they so richly deserve. I would like Equifax to be removed as a credit reporting agency for their gross incompetence and what I construe to be gross misconduct. Where is the government oversight when companies allow foreign idiots to walk on the taxpayer.

My attempts to contact the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau fell on deaf ears.

I voted for Trump but now I'm having second thoughts.

Boo !

National Alligator Day 2025
American Alligator
My interactions with alligators typically happen from a high vantage above the waterway in which they are swimming.

Nothing makes me shudder more effectively than a congregation of gators swimming around or just floating there looking all menacing ...

Even the little ones. Something about those eyes and snouts raised above the water line just adds to the trepidation all those teeth being so close for me personally.

We even bought bags of frozen 'Alligator Nuggets' which my cohort fried up and they were quite tasty.

I enjoyed the few I ate and it seems that her grandchildren took a distinct shine for them, requesting them on occasion afterwards.

Today is National Alligator Day.

It is observed each May 29 under the auspices of Wild Florida Safari Park as a statement regarding the place of the Alligator in the Florida ecosystem and their importance ...

Regardless of how ferocious these reptiles are in reality. They will eat you if they get the opportunity.

Alligators are not the same as crocodiles. They both are water dwellers and only coexist in South Florida and Tamaulipas, Mexico. They are native to the United States, Mexico, and China.

World Hunger Day 2025
    Oliver asking for more
No I'm not Oliver and no I'm not typically hungry. My nutritional needs are always handled in a prompt and efficient manner with all kinds of delectable foodstuffs whenever and where ever I happen to be.

Today is World Hunger Day.

It happens each May 28 since 2011 under the auspices of The Hunger Project in an attempt to qwell the hunger pangs of everyone on the face of the earth.

The Hunger Project estimates that 820 million people are suffering from chronic hunger and the resulting malnutrition it cultivates in a population.

The issue of world hunger has been around for as long as I can remember. Diminished food intake over time can result in various health issues.

The causes of hunger in the world population include low incomes, famine, drought, and political unrest.

So if you can aid another who is hungry it is a valiant effort on your part if you do.

If you cannot — at least give your empathy for the plight of the hungry. I have never suffered from prolonged hunger and therefore cannot attest to the discomfort of not having enough to eat.

I suppose I'm one of the lucky ones on the planet.

National Sunscreen Day 2025
I recall the summer I got fried in Key West.

It was summer and I was working in the Emergency Room when some in my cohort said how nice it would be to visit Key West. Me, being the shortsighted fellow I was quickly joined the misguided affair and we headed down South some seventeen hours packed in Jim Megg's Toyota like sardines.

Upon our arrival, we pitched our tent on a nice breezy outcropping and proceeded to fry like pieces of bacon in the white hot blistering Florida sunshine.

I had a short visit with my childhood friends, Mr and Mrs Rudy Gagnon over at Aster Terrace in Key Haven which was a short trot accross US1 on Stock Island (Raccoon Key) to there and back to the campground.

Sun Screen SPF 50

Upon our departure, as time progressed the suffering became legendary.

We went to an emergency room somewhere in Florida which declined to accept our insurance because they said it wouldn't cover "sunburn".

I checked the coverage when we got back and was told it would have covered everything 100 percent.

When we returned we went straight to the Emergency Room where we all worked and they treated my second degree sunburn as they yelled at me for being so stupid and advised me regarding the dangers of skin cancer and it's association to too much sun ...

Anyway a couple days later I was all better, had quit my whining, and got back to the business of my go nowhere county hospital job.

Today is National Sunscreen Day.

It is observed each May 27 and gives rise to the notion that UV radiation is a constant danger to human beings with sunscreen being the number one weapon in the battle against UV radiation caused skin cancers.

Go Figure.

Anyway I never forayed into the sun again and have pretty much lived with skin as white as a dead fish since then. Not to mention that my legs can now light the insides of caves.

These sunscreen products have an effectiveness rating called "SPF" aka "Skin Protection Factor". The higher the SPF the greater the protection from UV radiation while you're outside. I don't use these products anymore because I use a different chemical inhibitor called Super Oxide Dismutase to block the harmful effects of UV skin damage. However, in the absence of SOD I would indeed use a sunscreen product in most likely a lotion form.

Happy National Sunscreen Day and watch out. Everything that is good for you may harm you if indulged to excess. Sunlight is no different.

Memorial Day 2025
I have endured the suffering of many Memorial Days in recent memory. Both my biological and step fathers were career military and have passed this earth. Not to trivialize my stepfather at all — but my biological father in particular had a very painful passing to witness in all my helplessness. Though they did not die in combat I still observe and honor their service on this day. They were both military retirees, as 'gung-ho' as it gets, and my closest family.

Memorial Day 2025

Memorial Day is one of our federal holidays in the United States. It is observed on the last Monday of May. It honors and mourns our military personnel who died while serving in the US Armed Forces. It's orgins are in a holiday called Decoration Day in those years following the Civil War. It is marked by visiting cemeteries, decorating graves, and participating in memorial events.

National Wine Day 2025
I was more of a wine drinker while a younger man. Then I went through my liqueur phase where I drank a lot of Drambuie and Contreaux.

The wine was easier to down and more 'thirst quenching' than the liquors I also consumed were.

I would make fun of others with my 'A box of wine, a can of beans, and you" quips as I found myself more and more less preoccupied with socializing while drinking than I was with simply 'copping a buzz'.

I called it all "drinking for effect".

    wine spodie odie
Today is National Wine Day.

The day is meant to promote the enjoyment of this fermented drink’s many types and is observed each May 25th.

Wine enthusiasts hold tastings and all those socials and fetes I used to avoid for all the mingling.

I don't mingle.

Regardless, I will partake of a snootful if one is being offered and I can engage conversation in my old age like I never could as the post-teenage sophomoric human being I was early on.

Happy National Wine Day. If you enjoy wine I hope you have a great day.

National Wig Out Day 2025
Dave Wigged Out
Wigs aren't really my thing. I have never been crazy about male pattern baldness either but the thought of applying a rug or worse is far less appealing.

Call me old fashioned.

Today is National Wig Out Day.

It happens 10 days prior to the first Monday of June which falls on May 24 this year.

It is held under the auspices of sisters Kate and Alice Clark who just wanted to inspire the people of Bellingham, Washington state to go to work wearing all manner of crazy wigs.

Crazy is right.

The festivities culimnate in a party that evening.

I try to accommodate a lot of things. I don't think the wig is something that I should engage on a regular basis ...

I mean, what do you think ?

National Cooler Day 2025
I had scheduled a trip to Northeast Florida recently. Then a white trash piece of shit driving a four cylinder wreck struck me in the rear of my brand new truck. The tard said he was sorry and that he didn't have insurance. My mom thinks I've been sucker. The truck had less than 1000 miles on it at the time.

I still have visions of enacting extreme violence toward this person dancing in my head. But I digress ...

My brother had spontaneously lent me a fine bar handled Lifetime Cooler in gray with blue and black trim. I still have it. It is quite the sturdy ice chest and I even used it as an additional seat recently.

Be all of this as it may my truck will be repaired on May 27. I am assured that the there will be no evidence for the past damage — which was a harsher situation on the white trash suck ass perpetrator's vehicle whereas mine suffered primarily scratches.

    Lifetime Cooler
When it is returned to me I hope to resume my plans to travel to Florida and pay my respects to my beloved cousin John Michael Holladay whose final resting place is in Astor, Florida. I will attend to this with his son, John Michael Holladay Jr whom I will pick up enroute.

I will take the cooler with me full of ice and drinks and such. Of course all of this will be contingent on the availability of the schedules of those involved.

Today is National Cooler Day.

It is observed on the Friday before Memorial Day. I view this as appropriate since Memorial Day is one of those holidays to which a cooler adds enjoyment. My brother received a new go to hell Yeti cooler upon his retirement and therefore is in no hurry to get his back ...

All I know is I will enjoy the big gray box my brother allowed me to borrow.

Happy National Cooler Day to you and I hope nobody rams your brand new truck in the back.

Buy a Musical Instrument Day 2025
Korg tinyPIANO

I once was going to play the piano.

Then I got the ass for the person from who I bought my instrument inspiring me to give it to my niece so I wouldn't have to look at it. She already knew how to play but did nothing with it either.

Maybe tommorrow ...

Today is Buy A Musical Instrument Day.

Observed each May 22nd, the day is to provide motivation for people to acquire brand new musical instruments to add melodic content to their lives.

I don't play the piano. I play tone poems which are often mistaken for actual playing; but are mostly spontaneous happenings which come and go but rarely repeat.

I have also delved into the Pan pipe and various drums as well.

So if Buy A Musical Instrument Day inspires you to purchase an instrument and truly learn to play it well then the day is a personal success for you.

Anything less is something else.

Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day 2025
Nothing could be more true than the old adage "You are what you eat". Yes, the more high quality nutrients you place into your mix the better off you'll be in the long run.

Today is Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day. It is observed annually on May 21st. It corresponds to the growing season and availability added fruit and vegetables for the diet in general.

Fruits and Veggies

I sometimes think back on all of the obesity I could have staved off in my past had I been vegan.Oh well, that was then and this is now. I gave up the fast food by and large long ago, but still can't resist a nice burger or fried chicken to this day.

I think my change from cottonseed and other bulk supply ' Navy Exchange commissary' oils to straight extra virgin olive oil to be one of the most profound nutrient changes I have ever made. I have also tried to include a variety of fruit and vegetables as the staples which hold everything together.

Happy Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day.

Try not to live the entirety of your life as some big fat blivet.

World Bee Day 2025
Honey Bees are endangered. If we drive them to extinction food production will be adversely affected beyond our wildest dreams. Yet, there were no consequences for the Dorchester County lame brain employees who killed millions of honeybees after spraying for mosquitos. A bunch of self righeous whining made the rounds — but that was about it.

    • Where were the prosecutions ?
    • Where were the incarcerations ?
    • Where were the summary executions with extreme prejudice ?

    honeybee
Today is World Bee Day.

It is held internationally each May 20 under the auspices of the Slovenian Beekeepers’ Association.

It would seem that Americans are way too selfish to institute any meaningful action themselves.

On this day, beekeeping events are held to educate the general public about the importance of bees and beekeeping. Pollinators and their protection is the gist of the observance.

Bees, are of the most important pollinators. Bees contribute to food and sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, and food security. Bees also play an important role in climate change mitigation and environmental conservation. Bees assist greatly in solving issues of hunger and poverty. They combat both poverty and hunger. Bees are critical to our survival. Scientific studies have proven that bees are becoming increasingly endangered.

With idiots like the Dorchester County employees spraying peticides without even bothering to consider collateral damage says it all in these days of morons being paid with tax dollars to screw over the rest of the population.

Protect bees and their habitats on World Bee Day and every other day as well.

Malcolm X Day 2025
el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz aka Malcolm X

el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz was a personality with whom I always wanted to have a conversation. His radical ideas appealed to me and his fearless confrontational style likewise was a personal draw.

Like his contemporary, James Baldwin he didn't hold his tongue for anybody anytime anywhere.

Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little and became el-Hajj Malik el-Shabazz as a function of his evolution as a man. I have sometimes wondered if we would have gotten along, with him being of his time and me being of mine.

He was born May 19, 1925 and was murdered February 21, 1965.

I was nine about to turn ten years old in Aragona Village, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

His claim to fame was African American revolutionary, Muslim minister and human rights activist who was a prominent figure during the civil rights movement until his assassination in 1965. As a spokesman for the Nation of Islam until 1964 after which he left the movement, he was a vocal advocate for black empowerment and the promotion of Islam within the African American community.

Immersed in controversy and accused of preaching violence, Malcolm X is also a widely celebrated figure within African American and Muslim communities and for his pursuit of racial justice.

National Visit Your Relatives Day 2025

Thinking back I recall all of my relatives who have passed away and wistfully remember various vignettes of them. I recall the last reunion held by my cousin Fritz Jolly and the joy it brought to me personally and just how many of those who are there are no longer with us, including good ole Fritz himself ...

Today is National Visit Your Relatives Day.

It is held each May 18 and dedicates itself to spending time with family and attempting to cherish each and every moment.

snowflake

In our busy workaday worlds we sometimes forget what is most important. Mingling with family is right up there at the top of those possibilities. It is how we stay rooted in our various cultures and remember our traditions.

Showing appreciation for those who stood by us no matter what, encountering and interacting with siblings, cousins, and others, and simply appreciating having a family with whom to visit are the impetus of this day.

Bringing the family together is an admirable pursuit. The quality and quantity of counters diminish over time as we all grow older and cultivate idiosyncratic aspects which may or may not mesh.

So happy National Visit Your Relatives Day and I hope you get out there and make the best of what you have in relative company while you still have them to enjoy.

National Linda Day 2025
    cousin Linda
My cousin Linda is slightly younger than I.

She is a lady of finance having done that work her entire career and finds herself at the pinnacle of that environment at a bank on the coast.

Today is National Linda Day.

It is observed on May 17 annually and is a day set aside to celebrate all the Lindas of the world. It is a name of German extraction which means soft or tender.

Linda is also derived from the feminine form of "Lindo" and means beautiful, pretty, or cute in Spanish and Portuguese. It means clean in Italian.

Regardless, my Linda is pretty, smart, urbane, and worldly.

I think of her every so often in these later days of my life in an effort to correlate my situation viz a vis the world at large.

Happy Linda Day to you and yours ... particularly if they too are named Linda.
