Tax Day 2025
    Tax Form 1040
Well, it's the magical mystery tax day for the Feds if you're not extending.

The joy of the day has always been lost on me. Even back when I had a hefty refund coming the burden of completing the forms to the federal spec was always a thorn in my ass.

Not one to go venturing into a bunch of receipts, I relied on the services of a professional tax guy named Roberts on Rosewood Drive. Alas he passed away quite some time ago leaving me to my own devices.

These days I'm a program warrior and I do both my and my mother's taxes.

The IRS began in 1862 whereby the federal government began “to assess, levy, and collect taxes through its power to seize property and income.”

Mr Trump has a different idea. At last we have someone refreshingly law abiding in the White House after the Obama run Biden debacle we just went through and aside from the rest of the robber democrats and the wimpy idiotic Rinos in their pockets who would just as soon fleece the tax payer as anyone else.

Happy tax day to you. By the way there was a 2 week grace period added for a handful of states, including South Carolina making the actual due date May 1.

National Scrabble Day 2025
    scrabble tiles
Yeah, once upon a time I would play scrabble.

It was a pastime going around and there was an issue with bordom on occasion so I would submit.

It wasn't so much "enjoyment" but to see the hands on the clock end up moving in those moments they appeared stuck.

I never once claimed to have "scrabble eyes" like Alan Harper.

Today is National Scrabble Day.

It is held each April 13 on the birthday of Alfred Mosher Butts, who invented the game.

Yeah, it's something to do. You don't have to love it ...

Just don't bad mouth Scrabble when you're playing someone who is really gung ho about the game.

No need to stir up any crap just because it might be your favorite past time.

Happy National Scrabble Day and no I don't own a Scrabble Dictionary — or even a board !

Walk On Your Wild Side Day 2025
take a walk on the wild side
This is one of those observances I might have enjoyed at a younger period of my life.

It seems that my somewhat rebellious nature has diminished over time and I am no longer seeking the ultimate in new, unique and/or stimulating experiences.

Call it age. Call it maturity.

I just lack that adventurous nature which so punctuated my earlier years and in some ways I miss it all for sure.

Today is Walk On Your Wild Side Day.

It is an invitation to do things you've always wanted to do but were prevented by preconceived notions of propriety from seeking out ...

My carefree period having long passed it's a shame that the outside the box side of me isn't nearly so prevalent as it was early on.

The day is the brainchild of one Thomas and Ruth Roy of wellcat.com fame.

As for me, my "wild side" has passed long ago.

My present is more subdued in that effort to maintain a low profile and not be in the proverbial spotlight at all ever anymore.

There is something to say for a drab lifestyle, eh Mark Platt ?

At least I will forego further chastisement by most of my peers now that I'm not in the spotlight for some outrageous behavior perpetrated in public.

Happy Walk On Your Wild Side Day. I say if it floats your boat, go for it !

National Eight Track Tape Day 2025
    Eight Track Tape
I had a wild ride during the eight track tape years.

It was a popular format in high school and there was a player I kept around and another in my automobile.

The song selection was meager and the mechanism fraught with mechanical issues associated with tape transport and pinch rollers — but we got along with the rather medicocre playback quality as we grooved to the vibes in perfect synch.

Yes, there wasn't much keeping me from the migration to cassettes which came next.

The eight track tape was invented by the inventor of the learjet: one William Powell Lear.

It was in it's heyday for about a decade before falling victim to the newer technologies. Also, it was never able to surpass the vinyl disk for sound quality.

I never encounter 8 tracks anymore. It's a rather sad notion in the history of my evolution as an audiophile given just how much they enhanced my life in high school.

If you have one it is an interesting piece of curiosa and I would keep it for that reason.

Happy National Eight Track Tape Day you hippy.

World Homeopathy Day 2025
ceramic mortar and pestle with Echinacea

Homeopathy, the use of treatments made from plants, minerals, and/or animals was a career choice I considered in the late 1970s while in California working in a wholistic medical clinic.

When I decided to pursue "plan b" (which was computer science subject matter expertise) all those plans were discarded as well as those materials I had been studying.

My attempt was a "clean break" from the old to the new.

Today is World Homeopathy Day.

It is observed each April 10 to make known those contributions to traditional medicine (and there are many).

It also honors the founder of homeopathy, one Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann who was a formally educated physician.

Like chiropractic, it was relegated as quackery intially because the medical industrial complex couldn't stand the competition. What a stupid group physicians can sometime be. It has to do with those innumerable prejudicial "my way or the highway" notions cultivated during their training.

I recall the many rails against alternative medicine by those who are now either dead or have shut their stupid traps after realizing just how incorrect they were ...

Anyway, if you're a homeopath, today is your day. If you use homeopathy, good for you. Happy World Homeopathy Day and don't let some medical establishment puke like those of the AMA or the NIH, or the CDC sway you. They were all stupid in COVID and I look forward to them remaining stupid as long as they have surgery and big pharma kickbacks to hawk.

National Gin and Tonic Day 2025
    Gin and Tonic
A day featuring my long time favorite drinks has arrive.

I was a Gin and Tonic man when I was that drinker seeking watering holes in and close to Naval Bases internationally.

I had been known to down quite a few screwdrivers before landing on Gin and Tonic and found it was a refreshing bitterness that matched much of my attitude at that time.

So today is National Gin and Tonic Day and I pay homage.

It is celebrated each April 9 in observance of that vintage drink featured so prominently in my past.

I'm quite sure that during that time I had consumed so much quinine that I was immune to malaria.

Indeed I never suffered from it though I was in areas of the world which found it flourishing.

I'm sure the Navy had intervened otherwise as well.

So happy National Gin and Tonic Day.

If you're so inclined throw one down for me.

So many fond memories of the drink and the times.

Jay North RIP
cast of Dennis the Menace

Jay Waverly North Jr was born August 3, 1951 and passed day before yesterday on April 6, 2025.

He was an American actor. His career began in the late 1950s, and he went on to appear in eight TV series, two variety shows and three feature films.

He portayed Dennis Mitchell on the CBS comedy Dennis the Menace (1959–1963) which was based on the Hank Ketcham comic strip and was a staple of my television entertainment during that time frame.

He was 7 years old when he began and I was unable to suspend disbelief at that early age and thought I was actually interacting with him and the other characters of the show.

I recall his relating having to suffer cruelty at the hands of his aunt and uncle. I read of his struggles to overcome those feelings and a later reunion with Jeannie Russell, who portrayed the character Margaret on the show. She grew up to become a chiropractor in North Hollywood, California.

I recall watching Jay North in various other television programs, most notably Maya which concered him and a friend along with an elephant. However, I don't think it grew on me as I didn't watch it religiously as I did Dennis the Menace.

Jay North died of colorectal cancer on April 6, 2025, after a battle lasting several years.

Rest in peace.

Draw a Bird Day 2025
    Kingfisher
It's not an "official" holiday but one meant to stimulate that creative aspect of our personalities such that we set hand to various media and formulate an artistic creation of the avian kind.

I have participated in this observance as often as I can over the years because I view the premise as a good use of my time and effort.

It is also in-keeping with my never ending promotion of the arts in humanity and especially for children.

So, in that spirit of the day I give you the Kingfisher.

It's a bird.

I drew it.

Happy Draw a Bird Day.

World Health Day 2025
WHO is DEATH
Beware.

Today is World Health Day.

This is the day the World Health Organization chose to try and hide the fact that they are a bunch of third world incompetents incapable of taking over the world as they would like and continually have attempted in the recent past.

The world stage does not need the dumbass WHO or it's parent the United gd Nations.

They are both yet another stupid globalist view without any relevance to the nationalistic nature of world governments.

They want to kill you and take your property via their Agenda 2030.

They want to rule you as though they own your slave ass. They want to control you within your own borders with their own so-called "Peacekeeper" thugs.

What they claim to be is not who they are.

Toss Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and the rest of his third world charletain scoundrels out of your jurisdiction with extreme prejudice.

Boo !

I'll take a whitebox any day ...
    server cluster

Whitebox.

Those custom computers manufactured by third parties in lieu of some mass produced bunch of nothing like an Acer or a Dell or much worse ...

A trip to Best Buy or some other worthless vendor offering pseudo and unskilled support.

Dell manufactures their own motherboards to spec.

Give me a gd break.

So it's rapidly becoming time for a new workstation and I will NOT make the mistake of calling some sand nigger representing Acer for anything.

I'm headed up the street to a little computer business and letting them handle it.

The two servers they built for me some time back have been MOST satisfactory.

National Recommit to Your Fitness Day 2025
joggers
In a week I'll be 70. I have no designs on resetting my fitness goals. I am continually hearing how "your're as young as you feel".

I'm feeling somewhat like the crypt keeper.

So no, I don't see any changes in what I'm all about unless the hormone replacement therapy is all that.

There was a time when I was all for the daily jog and the tossing around of the kettlebells in an attempt at keeping up with the changes of aging.

I fear I have lost that battle.

Today is National Recommit to Your Fitness Day. It is an April 5 observance held under the auspices of F45 Training, who push group workouts.

Anyway, while I consider the concept of National Recommit to Your Fitness Day quite the admirable endeavor, those practicalities of who I am and what I'm about otherwise cannot be ignored.

So I'm going to try and get back into the groove again. I may not be the champion powerlifter of my old Venice Beach, California days but here's to the thought. Life is a journey, not a destination.

Happy National Recommit to Your Fitness Day to you.
