I was once in radiographer training and studied mammography. It was here I learned breast cancer awareness and how it affects males and females.
No Bra Day happens each year on October 13 and women are encouraged to go braless as a means to encourage breast cancer awareness.
No Bra Day was originally held July 9, 2011 but moved to the 9th day of the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month which is October.
I for one view the bra as a necessary support garment given those women with whom I have consorted.
However, I also view it as a "ladies choice" item and will remain flexible toward that end as long as I am dealing with the subject of proper breast support in mixed company.
I try to remain delicate with delicate topics.

I have a lot of experience with Columbus day having many Catholic friends who are also Italian.
Also, my preference for Italian women as superior in the dating pool have stirred me towards engaging various paramours toward engagements on this day.
Columbus Day is a US holiday commemoration of that arrival of Christopher Columbus in the Americas on October 12, 1492. It is officially observed on the second Monday of October.
The federal holiday is celebrated annually on the second Monday of October which makes it October 12, 2026 this year.
It was first proclaimed as an annual federal holiday in 1937 by President Franklin D Roosevelt, and moved to the second Monday in October under the Uniform Monday Holiday Act in 1971.
Many Italian-American communities celebrate the day to honor their cultural heritage and the achievements of Columbus, who was a native of Genoa, Italy.

- World Mental Health Day 2026

During the 1970s, South Carolina was involved with a major shift toward deinstitutionalization driven by civil rights movements, anti-psychiatry views, Medicaid expansion, and the rise of community-based mental health programs. Downsizing and shifting philosophy were the order of the day.
I was involved as a Mental Health Specialist and as such I operated within the Byrnes Clinical Center first on the fifth floor (chronic illness / custodial care) and then the third floor (acute medicine / surgery).
Today is World Mental Health Day.
It takes place each October 10 under the auspices of World Federation for Mental Health since 1992.
It is an international observance held each October 10 to raise awareness, reduce social stigmata, and initiate support for mental health education and patient advocacy.

- Posthumous birthday of John Lennon 2026

When I was a child in Aragona Village of Virginia Beach, Virginia The Beatles became a thing. One of the musicians in the group was John Lennon.
He was Born John Winston Lennon on October 9, 1940 in Liverpool, England.
He died very prematurely on December 8, 1980 in New York City from gunshot wounds administered by a whacked out fan named Mark David Chapman who shot him four times in the back and shoulder with a .38 Special revolver outside The Dakota apartment building in Manhattan, New York City.
Mr Lennon was rushed to Roosevelt Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival at 11:15 pm.
He was cremated and his cremains scattered in Central Park of New York City.
Mr Lennon’s last spoken words after being shot were "I'm shot", as he collapsed in the lobby of his New York City apartment building.
I've always been left feeling that his life was largely incomplete. I am also surprised at the contempt younger people have for the era of The Beatles in general. I once worked with a geologist who had nothing but vitriol to spew regarding The Beatles and the memory of those who have passed.
Today the 86th anniversary of John Lennon's birth. I would have like to see what was floating around in his musical creativity a bit longer than Mark David Chapman's bullets would allow.

The tropical island phase of my childhood introduced me to much in the way of fish and marine species with which I engaged in study and observation.
One of those specimens in my collection were a few octopus samples which I found to be intelligent and interactive and fun. These were to be had in various coral reef container type objects like jars, cans, and such and I maintained a saltwater tank for these escapades.
An octopus is a soft-bod
ied, eight-limbed marine mollusk belonging to the class Cephalopoda and the order Octopoda. The the plural word for "octopus" underwent various enumerations based on current information at that time.
• Octopuses: The standard and most widely accepted English plural. (I sometimes bastardized this to octopussies because I was always attempting to be the comedian.
• Octopodes: A Greek-derived plural (oktōpodes). (This was my preferred plural).
• Octopi: A common historical mistake assuming a Latin. second-declension ending, though actually incorrect because the word is Greek in origin.
International Octopus Day is observed each October 8 under the auspices of The Octopus News Magazine Online since 2007 to honor the unique biology, intelligence, and ecological importance of octopuses. It marks the start of International Cephalopod Awareness Days which run through October 12.
Octopi are interesting animals which can interact with you at a surprisingly insightful manner. Should I ever find myself back living in the Florida keys or somewhere with ample habitat I will likely engage them as pets once again.

I have consorted with a number of plus sized women in my day.
This is primarily a result of limited choices but I must say a few of them were far beyond satisfactory over the years.
Today is National Plus Size Appreciation Day.
It is observed each October 6th under the auspices of Danielle White of Women Rock, Inc since 2017.
In our never ending pursuit of self-love, body image, and challenge traditional beauty standards — which physical attraction rarely calls forth it makes a point of elegance, talent, and the economic buying power of plus-size individuals.
Affectionately known as 'buffarillos' terms like voluptuous, curvy, and full-figured are common, more flattering ways to describe a plus-size body.
Me, I go for the ample female form inasmuch as I am pretty ample myself.
About the only thing my personal interest will reject are school teachers.

I am known to be kind when I'm able. Sometimes people tick me off like when they think they know enough to take down my web resources as if I'm as stupid as they are. All-in-all I try to get along and share what I can with my fellow person and not hurt or damage the property of others.
I wish everyone attempted such consideration.

You might compliment a coworker or stranger and tell them you like their style.
You might leave a good online review to assist a small local business in ecommerce.
You might exhibit patience by allowing someone to go ahead of you in a line or traffic.
It never hurts to extend a bubble of kindness around your fellow person in the name of empathetic humanity.

I was once a big fan of Taco Bell. I was surprised to discover the popularity of the establishment in Southern California in the late 1970s though the mid 1980s ...
But it was a force with which to be reckoned with along side my personal favorite of all times, Naugles.
Nowadays I don't patronize the establishment with their stupid workers, questionable hygiene, failure to buy wholesome ingredients and infuriating kiosk with which they expect YOU to take your OWN order.
The management is obviously delusional or stupid or both IMHO.
Today is National Taco Day because of a promotion by the fast food establishment Del Taco — where I was also known to get lunch from time to time.
It's sad to note that the root of the day is promotional and not some historical or cultural anniversary.
October 4th became National Taco Day in 2009 due to a promotional marketing campaign by the fast-food chain Del Taco, rather than any specific historical or cultural anniversary. It was changed to the first Tuesday in October due to that fickle thing called marketing people.
Marketing people are highly over rated in general.

- Life is about getting past things

Yeah, as I'm maintaining a civil disposition toward those with whom I interact I must admit that I'm really writing some rather nasty countermeasures for hack attempts.
I feel that in life we should try to move forward by accepting what has happened, learning the lesson, and refusing to let past pain control your present.
Letting go protects your energy: Holding onto old hurts, anger, or regret drains the mental focus needed for today.
Letting go avoids repeating cycles: Dwelling on mistakes without reframing them keeps you stuck in familiar, unhelpful patterns.
Letting go allows us to open up to the present. It makes us available for true opportunities and peace only exist right now, not in the mirror.
Letting go permits acceptance of reality whereby we may acknowledge that the past is finished and cannot be rewritten.
Obtaining lessons from reality allows us to view failures or setbacks as feedback and teachers rather than permanent proof of your worth.
Those who practice forgiveness evolve to Let go of grudges against yourself and others to release the emotional burden.
Becoming grounded in today allows the use of simple mindfulness or sensory exercises to bring your attention back to the immediate moment.
I intend to utilize that same unfairness leveled upon me with malice aforethought.
I'm rather inclined to attack others for attacking me.

Lately I have a revived set of sophomoric hack attempts. It's as if the individual involved has no grasp of who knows what and who doesn't.
So I must implement my austere firewall yet again because it is the only way to deal with some idiots. It's not like I'm sitting out here and just going to take it.
Yet again I have already firewalled all class A networks originating outside the USA. As I encounter American subnets hosting these dirt bags I'll deal with them piecemeal.
If you are innocent of such activity but can no longer access the blog I apologize.
Too many ISPs have no inkling of what comprises acceptable practices or customer behavior. I'm afraid that if you or your subnet have a single hack attempt log entry you are going away for good. I lost interest in reader antics and attempts at destruction a long time ago and ended up firewalling by subnet, not individual IP.
I don't need the grief and I'm okay with making misbehavior unable to access my stuff ...
What stupid people populate the earth thinking they can have their way messing with anyone and everyone by attempting to trash code segments they cannot even reach.

I have been hair frustrated since I was a child. My dad thought it a function of "human decency" to be seen anyway than as an onion. The 1970s brought me frustration and chagrin ... if not downright hatred for my dear old dad. When everyone else was allowed to make decisions over their hair I was forced to submit to those of others.
No wonder I grew up to have less tolerance. Over the years I set my issues with him aside and we embarked on a much better relationship until his passing. I still cry at his death for he really went down hard &mdash and all the hard feelings I suffer as well as that accompanying angst we went through persists in my mind to this day.
Today is National Hair Day.
We observe it each October 1st since 2017 under the auspices of the hair care product company NuMe in honor hair as a tool for self-expression and to appreciate hairstylists, care products, and styling tools.
Yeah, so many others are far better than me to give hair advice ... much less promote hair diversity I was never allowed to pursue, the utter lack of individuality that was tolerated by my father, much of the self-confidence he destroyed in my soul, and creative styling routines which were strictly verboden.
I hope you had better luck with your choices of hairstyles than the NONE I was allowed.

I have never been truly bilingual.
I have scared a few people along the way because there is certain phraseology with which I have been experienced.
Today is International Translation Day.
It is observed each September 30 under the auspices of The International Federation of Translators since 1953 to honor the work of language professionals who connect nations in an effort to foster development, a sense of international peace, and universal understanding.
It is held on September 30 because that is the feast day of Saint Jerome.
He was a Christian scholar who translated the Bible into Latin and is known as the patron saint of translators.
