One of those things the Navy pounded into me was a disdain for being late ... for anything.
Something about arriving after commencement of anything important makes my skin crawl to this day.
I'd much prefer being an hour early than a minute late and this is how I live my life.
You can like it. You can hate it. However, it's simply the way I am.
National Be Late for Something Day is celebrated under the auspices of the Procrastinators Club of America each September 5 since 1956.
It's a chance to embrace a more relaxed pace in that knock down drag out called life and work in particular.
I would never encourage you to do this on any day, Be Late For Something Day or otherwise.
It's simply not me.
Be Late For Something Day is also known as National Be Late For Something Day in the United States.
Rigid schedules aside, I remain flexible on all other states of being.
Being late is said to:
| Reduce stress with breaks from time pressure |
| Encourage mindfulness and an ability to live in the moment |
| Promote self compassion and acceptance of imperfection |
| Strengthen social bonds through shared enjoyment and laughter |
Challenge societal obsessions with productivity.
|
I challenge anyone to score on me for this aspect of my existence. Call me "Productivity Incarnate".
Whether or not this is true I cannot say, only that I know who I am and that who is me attempts to NEVER be late.

National Spice Blend Day 2026
-
A spice mix is a blend of ground herbs and spices used to add deep flavor to food quickly.
Common Types of Spice Blends include:
| Italian Seasoning | A mix of oregano, basil, thyme, and rosemary, great in pasta and pizza. |
| Taco Seasoning | A blend of chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and paprika for Mexican items. |
| Garam Masala | A warm, aromatic Indian blend containing cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves. |
| Cajun Spice | A bold mix of paprika, cayenne, garlic, and pepper for meats and seafood. |
| |
| They are available under a number of brands marketed locally. |
I cultivated an interest in spicy foods with age. Early on I was more of a milder eater. Now you can't burn me away from the table. I will not eat canned soup without doctoring it up with what I felt were the requisite spice blends because I initially grew bored with the off the shelf varieties because I felt they were lacking adequate flavor.
It took a few years to remember which combinations I preferred where until I thought they reached that taste they "should" have. Now my spice rack is bountiful and I enjoy my various canned meals much more.
Today is National Spice Blend Day.
It is celebrated annually on September 4th.
It was created in 2021 by Angel Gregorio, owner of The SpiceSuite, to mark the joint's 6th anniversary.
The day is about that rich culture, history, and global creativity behind combining herbs and spices. It highlights how unique mixtures may transform everyday cooking.

National Skyscraper Day 2026
-
National Skyscraper Day is celebrated every year on September 3rd to honor the engineering and architectural achievements found in the tallest buildings.
It is held each September 3 which is the birth date on one Louis Sullivan, who is touted the as father of modern skyscrapers.
Louis Sullivan was born on September 3, 1856. His "form follows function" admonition a tenet early on in the development of skyscrapers.
This day celebrates their skeletal steel frame and safety elevators, those two inventions that made vertical growth possible.
You may use the day to explore how engineers handle tuned mass dampers for wind resistance, weight distribution, and green design.
Of course green design is a falsification and merely stupid leftist drivel which means absolutely nothing in the big scheme of things.
So keep your green new deal mess buried up your uninformed democrat ass.

National Blueberry Popsicle Day 2026
-
Back in my popsicle heyday ...
Say 1960 or so — I was a fan of the blueberry popsicle.
Over the years I have continued to enjoy these frozen treats on occasion and seek them intermittently during the warm months.
Today is National Blueberry Popsicle Day.
It is observed annually on September 2.
It offers a refreshing way to cool off near the end of summer and also kicks off National Blueberry Popsicle Month.
I remember great cold boxes of the things I would consume over a brief period of time.
Back in those days the brand was "popsicle" and I was known to hand a few of them out on occasion.
One of those aspects of my past I miss.
Sometimes we never fully shake the kid in us regardless of how ancient we become !

Meteorological Fall 2026
-
We are now in the season called Meteorological Fall. It begins on September 1st and remains through September, October, and November. Meteorologists split seasons into clean, three-month blocks based on the annual temperature cycle to compare climate data easily.
Astronomical fall is based on the Earth's tilt and the September Equinox, which arrives later in the month on September 22.
Meteorological autumn is significant because it provides a fixed, consistent three-month block—from September 1 to November 30—that allows scientists and climatologists to accurately compare weather records from year to year.
Meterological Fall always starts on September 1 and ends on November 30 — unlike astronomical fall which shifts based on the equinox. It is a source for clean weather data.
