National Pound Cake Day 2025

Pound cake has been a frequent accompaniment to my morning coffee over the years.

Time was we would have home made pound cake.

Now the elderly factor has crept into our existence and it's either buy it from the grocery store or do without.

Today is National Pound Cake Day.

It is held annually on March 4 to celebrate the pound cake and perhaps try their hand at baking them.

Pound cakes refer to the type of cake traditionally made with one pound each of four ingredients: butter, eggs, flour, and sugar.

Since the standard recipe for pound cake typically exceeds the requirements of most family meals the day encourages you to celebrate, bake them, eat them, and pass them around.

I pretty much can go for a piece of pound cake anytime. Particularly with a glass of milk or cup of coffee.
