I once was the consumate beer drinker.
It was from a slow start that I found myself able to quaff beer any time of the day.
I have never really wanted to drink beer with food, however.
It's status as one of the oldest drinks the world carries it far and wide.
Today is International Beer Day.
It is held on the First Friday in August.
It's a vehicle for those so inclined to go out and get schnockered I suppose.
Anyway, if you are a beer drinker you know who you are and this day is for you.
Don't let the fact that I'm no longer the lush I once was deter you in the least.

Today we celebrate Tim Berners-Lee's 1989 invention known as the World Wide Web. It is an interconnection of computer networks comprising the Earth and now even into orbit around it. It is a mechanism for people to share electronically with others.
The WWW wasn't an immediate "world wide" hit with the populace but has supplanted most other media for dominant use.
Though it was not envisioned as a public access mechanism, but one for scientists to share data the rest so we say is history. It is now an essential part of many lives upon the earth including my own. HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) utilizes Hypertext Markup Language to create documents that act the basis for innumerable other features.
Some of us take the markup even farther with scripting such as javascript, Lucee, perl, and other adjuncts which may be installed on the web server.

- New Electrical Distribution Panel

I have a new electrical distribution panel with new high power cables and an outside to code wiring scheme. It has my house looking like it has been overrun by the Borg.
There are a few minor remaining issues which will be addressed in the morning. My server cluster has been down for 2 days taking care of this so I hope there will be minimal additional downtime.
I was happy that the discrepancies all appear to be lights in the same general vacinity.
Wish me luck as we proceed tomorrow. I was told to expect this issue so I am left feeling prepared.

- Rain Day 2024

Many of those around me do not enjoy the rain. They view it as "bad" weather. I for one enjoy the rain. It imparts moisture to the soil, contributes to the aquafirs and replenishes the ground water — and generally makes for a cooler weather experience from the cloud cover.
I like to maintain a dehumdifier to keep the inside of my home arid in the humid Summer months in South Carolina. However I leave the out of doors to it's own devices and participate in the day regardless of the level of precipitation.
This is Rain Day which is observed each July 29. It is a day to be thankful for the water cycle and hope that the geoengineering idiots are taken out before they finish ruining the earth. The day was created by a pharmacist named William Allison of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. I view the rain as essential to life, therefore I observe and enjoy the rain whenever it is present. - Comments (0)

- National Waterpark Day 2024

I've never really been to a waterpark. Everytime I've been to one I was either in Navy dress whites or other inappropriate attire for taking a dip. Suffice it to say that the experience was totally lost on me.
I had considered going to a couple of nearby water parks, but the last time I planned a visit the park on Two Notch Road in Columbia, SC abruptly closed. I never regained that impetus to return to any other water parks elsewhere.
Today is National Waterpark Day which occurs each July 28 under the auspices of Kalahari Resorts and Conventions since 2017. The water park looks like an enjoyable time for sure but sometimes situations are simply not in agreement with karma and or the moon and the sun and the stars and you simply have to make other arrangements.
Though I will probably never enjoy the experience I hope you can avail yourself to what seems to be potentially a really bitching time.

- National Day of the Cowboy 2024

Here's one I have upon which I have never been too keen.
It's National Day of the Cowboy which falls on the 4th Saturday of July since 2005 making it July 27 this year. It is held under the auspices of an organization called "National Day of the Cowboy" (if you can believe it) and is observed to validate cowboy culture which is alive and well even in the information age.
Don't get me wrong, I did have my cowboy phase which sprang up right about the time of Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans and of course ... The Lone Ranger.
It's just that was 60 years ago and this is now. I no longer wear the cowboy hat and cowboy boots, nor do I don the mask of the Lone Ranger nor play Zorro anymore either.
The day began in the state of Wyoming and grew pretty much nationwide from there. This grassroots movemennt has amassed some 15 states having passed the bill. Coming from a rural area and having been a Navy brat I am well indoctrinated that the cowboy culture has been flourishing as long as I can remember. There were always elaborate hats and cowboy boots in my midst as far back as I can remember.
The crux of the day is raising awareness of rodeos, cowboy history museums, and country fairs, roping demonstrations you know, those things indigenous to cowboy culture in an effort to make sure that cowboy image never dies. I have distinct memories of playing cowboy from my early child hood. When I wasn't wearing a Navy dixie cup I had a cowboy hat on my head.

- National Dog Photograph Day 2024

Mans relationship with dogs are a product of interaction from time immemorial. There are companion animals, working animals, guard animals, and just about every niche you might consider could have a dog placed within it.
Needless to say, it becomes a personal matter when a companion and/or working animal is needlessly injured or worse, killed ... to which K-9 police officers all too often fall victim.
Duty. That is the name of the game. Police dogs fallen in the line of duty are afforded that respect they deserve. Memorial services and memories are a small token of esteem in the face of self sacrifice. It's a shame we cannot protect them better when they serve us in that capacity.
Today is National Dog Photography Day. It is observed each July 26 annually to encourage the owners of dogs and photographers to get together and record an animal in time.
Such as this dog, K-9 Coba. The cannine was killed after being shot while assisting a team of law enforcement officers from SLED and the Newberry County Sheriff's Office serving felony warrants on one James Robert Peterson near Prosperity on Tuesday, June 11.
He had his memorial service, but I'm quite sure his handler and other cohorts would have preferred that it had never been necessary.

- International Red Shoe Day 2024

Red shoes are not really my idea of an appropriate fashion statement for a man. However, my experience with others tells me that we are not always in agreement regarding what is and is not "manly".
Today is International Red Shoe Day. It is observed each July 25th since 2014 under the auspices of friends Karen Smith and Lisa Hilton, founders of the Global Lyme & Invisible Illness Organization, wishing to memorialize Australian Lyme disease patient one Theda Myint who died from the disease in 2013.
The day was established in 2014 by Myint’s friends as a way to pay tribute to her, as well as to others worldwide who have lost their battles with Lyme or similar illnesses., The ‘red shoe’ was chosen as the symbol for the day because of Myint’s fondness for red shoes and how they are an integral part of her identity and fight.
International Red Shoe Day is a day to not only commemorate Theda Myint but to also spread awareness and remember those who have lost their lives to Lyme or similarly invisible illnesses globally.
Such a sad tale of human frailty. Rest in peace Theda Myint.

In this worldly existence, it is not enough to ask others for help. One must also implement help for one's self.
Toward that end I try to accommodate my gravity challenged corpulence by hanging upside down on my inversion table in an effort to decompress my vertebral and skeletal musculature from time to time. I find it helps with backache and posture. I have had to work up an ability to be upside down having a very low tolerance early on.
I also try to do other things which aid my existence as well such as take the enzyme superoxide dismutase to repair DNA and other free radical elimination substances as a part of my daily supplementation. Being a wholistic healthcare worker for the first 10 years of my career, the notion of "natural" substances appeals to me.
Notably I have a good comprehensive multivitamin and a corresponding multimineral. Then there is the ubiquinol for heart health, the xanthin and zeanthin for my aging myopic eyeballs — and the nail prep to augment my integument.
My nail practioner, Mrs Goodfoot who does my mani pedi treatment says that my nails are exceptional for my age. No yellow, no fungus, no funk, no cracking, no misshapen contours.
All of this has been a rather expensive alternative to blindly accepting age and age related disorders but I refuse to go quietly into the night.
Today is International Self-Care Day. It has been observed each July 24 since 2011 under the auspices of the International Self-Care Foundation as a vehicle to emphasize importance of self-care as a fundamental tenet of wellness. The day encourages people to implement and utilize self-care a part of their everyday routines and prioritize it as a viable mechanism towards total health.
I view a healthy diet, exercise, and hygiene as essential aspects of this notion of "self care". Indeed, I have evolved into somewhat a 'hygiene freak' toward that end. Taking care of the business of self care goes a long way in maintaining one's own state from mental health through the various therapies for chronic diseases which plague the modern individual.

From the trivial nonsense file we have International Yada Yada Yada Day which is celebrated each July 23rd.
The phrase said to mean "so on and so forth" or "blah, blah, blah" became popular on an episode of the American sitcom "Seinfeld".
"The Yada Yada" was the 19th episode of the eighth season which made it the 153rd episode.
The observance was created by one Michael W Casby who obviously is easily amused. It is a convenient cover up for those details better omitted from polite company.
Likely a highly effective interpersonal tool for those of us continually accused of TMI (too much information).
You may or not use the term in your travels. I think I may have uttered it once under my breath many moons ago. Perhaps had I been more of a fan of Seinfeld in general — but at that time I was teaching college and didn't go for such drivel.
Regardless, happy International Yada Yada Yada Day oh ye with little to do. Now yada your ass on out of here.

Today is World Brain Day. The brain is the center of thought, the nexus of the central nervous system, the primary attachment of the spinal cord which has certain capabilities of reactive thought of it's own ... such as the 'reflex arc'.
The brain is a powerful and essential part of vertebrates enabling high order thinking skills and coordination of innumerable body processes. Some of us are more well endowed with brain power than others. I like to think I'm on the upper end of that scale in general. I personally view the accumulation of experiences as a prime mover of the intellect. Those who try and fail are much better off than those who never attempt.
The day is held under the auspices of the World Federation of Neurology. It is an organization dedicated to both neurologic and mental health as it pertains to human beings. Brain health is essential to life. It goes hand with neurologic health in general and those issues associated thereto are significant.
World Federation of Neurology initiatives are designed to further study and improvement of brain functionality. You might say that the organization promotes synapse, that junction between individual nerves which transmit nerve impulses along those circuits which comprise both the central and peripheral nervous systems.

So today I was reviewing the significant days set aside as holidays and there doesn't seem any really noteworthy one available. Ice cream day was about as close as I could get so I decided to just shuck it and go for a little impromptu blog entry.
I have come under fire regarding my attitude towards transsexuals in particular and I must say that I could really give a rip. My intrinsic notions of proper and improper make them prime targets for ridicule and I'm fine with the repeated nature of cutting their stupid asses down.
Another thing people tend to dislike in the blog is my sketching. They seem to think that I should use only original photographs and not attempt to place an artsy spin on anything in the blog.
Wrong, camel breath. As long as the title is 'blog of dave' and I am Dave I pretty much will continue to call those shots as I see fit.
If you want to design and implement your OWN blog then feel free to do so. Also, as the disclaimer says this is Rated R and if you're not an adult it's really not a venue designed for you. Bear that in mind should you wish to complain about some influence I have had on a wayward child of yours ...
Then there is Trump. I see these libtard democrats whine and moan and groan when they are clearly incorrect regarding their published notions of Donald Trump. He has never projected dictatorial tendencies, anything Hitleresque at all, and other hideous manifestations eminating from the sewer imaginations of those such as the the outrageous Maxine Waters in particular. She should shut her stupid mouth with all her stupid incorrect notions regarding the right in general.
When I consider the corrupt Juan Merchan and his democrat whore daughter, the stupid and perverse Arthur Engoron who thinks he is sporting quite the bod in the gym these days, the numbskull Jack Smith, as well as the corrupt Soros payola recipients Letitia James and Alvin Bragg who engage in lawfare for the democratic party which cannot stand on it's own two feet and have ABSOLUTELY no notion of a 'fair election'. Turds every one.

So as you can see I am quite defiant and able to defend my positions whereas the stupid Maxine Waters can only spout unsupported vitriol from her igorant democrat pie hole. Everyone, including myself should exercise caution when deciding those with whom to pick a fight.
Don't bring a stick to a gun fight. Don't let your aligator mouth outdo your hummingbird ass. Democrats like to say everyone else is doing what THEY themselves are doing to destroy the country. They are not kidding many these days.

July 20th brings us Space Exploration Day. The day is aka National Moon Day under the auspices of President Ronald Regan in commemoration of the first manned mission to the moon and subsequent moon landing which happened on July 20, 1969.
This observance also seeks to inspire and encourage young students to pursue careers in space sciences and space exploration.
The current topics predominating the literature are Mars colonization and indeed there are grand designs and efforts by private firms toward that end. With the advent of the US Space Force we had a concerted effort to revive the flailing NASA bunglers who can do little more than doctor photos, blow up shuttles, and kill crews.
Then the moron woke Biden administration allowed a pervert transexual to contaminate the ranks of Space Force. This on top of the freakazoid Richard Levine who parades as a female sporting a penis sullying the unitorm of admiral as Assistant Secretary for Health and the crazy and infamous Sam Brinton, an American nuclear engineer no longer serving because he was found to be an airport kleptomaniac stealing ladies wardrobes from airport baggage pickups.
IMHO transexuals have no place in the military or government and should be summarily separated from all governmental endeavors as unsuitables out of touch with reality. When your existence shuns reality for some contrived definition of who you are it is telling on your character and comportment. Government and military duty in particular is tough enough without the addition of perversion and accommodation of those who are out of their gd minds.
The woke continue to try and turn our world into bullshit.
