This day is designated as “Abet and Aid Punsters Day” … although I can’t say by whom.
Punsters are people who enjoy paronomasia, or a ‘play on words’.
Puns are phrases used in public speaking which deliberately exploit the confusion between similar sounding words in the name of humor. Some have become quite trite through overuse.
I am one of those people and admit the pursuit can have results which may only be characterized as perfectly dreadful.

This day was set aside so when those like me let loose some wince inducing example of the craft you might be encouraged to laugh instead of engaging the usual groaning result.
