Intrepid MIT researchers looking into speech errors and brain functions came up with a tongue twister ostensibly so difficult that none of their test subjects were able to repeat it thereby having them declare it toughest in the world ... with the research data to be presented in an imminent symposium. I guess budgets are budgets.|
The alleged toughest tongue twister is:
"pad kid poured curd pulled cod"
Anyway, I could say it repeatedly without undue distress when approached in a calm matter of fact manner and after studying the words briefly. I presume the same act in the presence of a critical audience amassing metrics might have proven quite a different scenario.
Though I'm not exactly a performance arts enthusiast, THIS appeared rather pseudointellectual in an old timey snake oil phrenological type of vein.
HOWEVER, my hogwash could certainly be someone else's science ... I suppose. Like I said, budgets are budgets.
|I simply love the practical application of psychophysiology to real life situations. The Telegraph has an article right up that alley; the premise of which is Christmas shopping can be stressful enough to trigger the primal 'fight or flight' limbic response ... hoooh yeah baby !|
It would seem that the fray which culminates in all that festivity and gifting is just as much a part of the holidays as the feasting and events and treats of the season according to a psychologist named Dr David Lewis and may the trigger basic survival mechanisms which increase aggression ...
So the seasonal stressors are a deep seeded presence controlled subconsciously and may be quelled with proper planning and the elimination of that aforethought which might preclude malice. Things like shopping lists, not shopping hungry, extra consideration prior to high dollar purchases, and differentiation between "doing the shopping" and "going shopping" -- where one is a chore and the other an experience replete with the taking in of ambiance and other aspects of enjoyment.
I always wondered why going to the mall intrigued me so during the holidays with the throngs elbow to elbow and din of the voices. It was that subconscious stress I was detecting amid the masses attacking the merchandise for my amusement ...
Happy Holidays !

Hopefully the sun will come up tomorrow and find me in higher spirits.
It is said that we are never given more than we can handle;
but sometimes my whiney 'poor poor pitiful me' persona persists beyond a few minutes --
Like it's doing now ... and NO, I don't want any cheese with this whine.
Research data from a Dutch study at Leiden University published in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience found that exercise four times weekly resulted in higher scores on cognitive testing designed to measure creative thought process.|
It would appear that people in motion are able to lose those mental blocks which stymie creativity otherwise -- and authors and artists are known for walking before engaging in their art.
Volunteer subjects took an "Alternative Uses Test" whereby they listed ways a pen could be used, other than for writing, and a "Remote Associates Test" whereby they were to find a common link between three words.
The participants who exercised regularly scored better on these tests indicating exercise trains the brain toward solutions with the caveat being benefits are of short duration and creativity drops when the subjects are completely at rest.

A Rage in Walmart
And still the government wastes our funds on the unaffordable care act and salaries and benefits on the eunuchs in DC who can't effectively do anything except point fingers like a bunch of school children.
At least some of the confrontational videos recorded during the sales events were entertaining. There were several exciting episodes of 'A Rage in Walmart' ... for the viewing amusement of we who stayed home.
So have a few laughs while we continue down the tubes, courtesy of the democrats and progressives.
Wonder why you don't have anything to spend ? They're sucking up the nation's revenue then giving it all away to illegal immigrants in the country who are here for the entitlements advertised on billboards in their country ... and we're not doing anything about it. What's worse if they want to give amnesty to these individuals.
The wall street crooks who fleeced you and the rest of the world in the full blown DERIVATIVE spirit of Bernard Madoff are profiteering quite nicely right now at your expense as well with no consequences for the crime they enacted on the middle class. Shame.
